THE MODERN AV INTEGRATOR

If I was working for a corporate organisation looking for an AV integrator, how would I make the correct decision on appointing an AV integrator. What is there to consider when selecting an AV integrator. 

For me the most important factor would be Trust. Could the AV integrator deliver my projects on time and to a high standard. If there was a failure within a room within a specific region could I trust them to fix this issue quickly. 

Uptime is key. Some Boardrooms are used to make decisions which could impact the whole organisation. These rooms need to stay operational and should they fail, need to be fixed quickly. An agreed plan on room uptime for these rooms should always be made. 

Price – could the AV integrator help me negotiate the right price for the right technology for my AV estate across EMEA. 

Quality – Will the installations be completed to a high standard including commissioning and programming. A well planned and completed installation will decrease downtime and be much easier to manage, with labelled cables, schematics and CAD – any failures will be faster to locate and solve. Reducing the SLA cost and downtime, increasing the return on investment of the AV estate. 

Design – Would the AV integrator have the expertise to design a complex space, there are multiple different ways an AV room can be designed. We have all seen badly designed rooms. A badly designed room can happen for two reasons, a bad install or more commonly the way the room is used has not been properly thought out. 

Lastly I believe ongoing support is key. This could include checking with the vendors to ensure the client is receiving the latest firmware providing the latest innovations, maximising existing AV hardware investment. We would recommend check-in calls showing room or building analytics to analyse room usage or downtime ensuring the AV expectations are being met.
